Tuba Azeem


Tuba Azeem is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Law, Victoria University of Wellington, specialising in the legal history of property, territoriality, and power. Since 2023, she is working with the Muslim Diversity Study (MDS), leading research, community engagement, participant recruitment, and stakeholder liaison. Her work supports the study's broader goal of mapping the experiences, values, and resilience of Muslim communities and contributes to research on the diversity and inclusion of religious and ethnic minorities across New Zealand.
Tuba has held research positions at two of Pakistan's leading think tanks—the Institute of Policy Studies and the Centre for Strategic and Contemporary Research—where she conducted and led research on national and international legal frameworks affecting Pakistan's coastal regions. 
Tuba holds a degree in Shariah and Law from the International Islamic University Islamabad and is an alumna of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State, through which she studied politics and law at Concord University in West Virginia. She has taught legal research, writing, and advocacy at Victoria University of Wellington.
